Shaun Micallef: Matthew Flinders

A skull collection, a Robinson Crusoe obsession and a beloved pet cat: ladies and gentlemen, meet Matthew Flinders. Think you know the story of Australia’s most famous pioneer? Think again. In his wildly witty and scrupulously researched new book, Shaun Micallef sheds new light on the curious and chaotic figure who led the first circumnavigation of Australia – and explores what Flinders’ escapades can tell us about our national identity and our dark colonial past.
