Brown Lake (Bummiera) – North Stradbroke Island's Pristine Rainwater Lake Also known as Bummiera to the Quandamooka People, Brown Lake is a stunning rainwater lake on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), located just outside Dunwich (Goompi). Its unique brown colour comes from tannins in surrounding melaleuca and tea-tree bushland, making it one of the island's most iconic natural attractions. A favourite swimming spot, Brown Lake offers picnic tables, wood-fired barbecues, composting toilets, and scenic bushwalking trails. Visitors can enjoy spotting native wildlife and seasonal wildflowers in a peaceful setting. Bummiera is of deep cultural significance to the Quandamooka People, the Traditional Owners of Minjerribah.
